Starting Again, Again
We’ve all been there — standing at the edge of a new beginning, knowing we need to take that first step but feeling like it's grown heavier the longer we wait. Whether it’s getting back into fitness, restarting a project, or picking up something we let slide — starting again can feel... daunting.
But here’s the truth: the first step is always the same.
Just start.
It doesn’t have to be big. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be something.
When One Month Becomes... Many
For me, it was my newsletter.
One missed edition became two… then three… and then I found myself months down the line, unsure how to restart. Sound familiar?
It’s a pattern I see in fitness too. Especially for mums. Just when you find your rhythm, something throws it off — the kids get sick, work gets busy, your energy disappears. Suddenly it feels like you’re starting from scratch all over again.
It’s frustrating. You want consistency. You want progress. You just want to feel like something is finally sticking.
Here’s What I’ve Learned
Nothing is wasted.
Every time you show up again — even in a small way — you’re proving that you haven’t given up.
Every time you dust off your trainers or try a short workout, you’re telling yourself that you matter. That your health, your fitness, your wellbeing — they all matter.
Even when the workout is shorter than planned, interrupted, or fuelled by caffeine and hope — it still counts.
What Helped Me Restart
What finally got my newsletter back on track? I told someone.
I shared the plan with my friend Emily (thank you, Emily 💛), who’s been supporting me behind the scenes since day one — helping with editing, layout, and making sure it actually goes out. That accountability made all the difference.
I’d tried to do it on my own, and let’s be honest… you can see how well that worked.
Here’s the thing:
We’re not supposed to do everything alone.
Especially in motherhood, it’s easy to fall into the trap of believing we should have it all together, all by ourselves. But we’re meant to live in community. We thrive when we share the load, ask for help, and support one another.
Even in my small group PT sessions, I see this all the time — members cheering each other on, offering encouragement. It’s such a powerful reminder that we don’t have to carry everything ourselves.
If You’re Starting Again...
A few questions to ask yourself:
Who could you share your plan with?
Who could offer support or encouragement?
Are you trying to do this on your own when you don’t have to?
Even just saying your goal out loud can be the spark you need to move forward.
So here’s to starting again. And again. And however many times it takes.
You’re not starting from scratch — you’re starting from experience.
✉️ A Fresh Start for My Newsletter
If you’ve been a subscriber before, or you’re new here, I’m excited to let you know that my newsletter is coming back — in a new and improved format.
It’ll be short, useful, and designed specifically for mums who want practical ways to look after their health, fitness, and energy (without adding more stress to the pile).
Think: small wins, helpful tips, and encouragement that fits into your week — not something else to keep up with.
If that sounds good, make sure you’re subscribed.
And if there’s something you’d love to see included, drop me a message — I’d love to hear from you.
